A 100% original U.S. military issue M1916 leather hip holster for the Colt M1911 / M1911A1 .45 ACP pistol. This piece was manufactured by the famous Boyt Harness Company and features a beautifully crisp, highly legible factory stamp on the reverse side: BOYT / -42-, indicating a desired early World War II production date of 1942.
Condition & Modifications:
- Leather: The leather is in overall excellent, sturdy, and supple condition. It retains its beautiful, original wartime russet-brown coloration and has never been dyed black or altered with harsh post-war oils. The heavy factory stitching remains tight and intact.
- Hardware: The original brass closure stud and steel wire belt hanger are present and securely attached.
- Theater / Field Modification: Please review the photos carefully. The outer edges of the main closure flap were trimmed down/narrowed during its service life. This was a common wartime practice done either to facilitate a quicker draw or to allow the flap to stretch over a non-standard sidearm. The interior shows no heavy stretching or revolver cylinder molding marks, meaning it remains structurally clean.
This is a fantastic, "been there" piece of genuine combat history with incredible field character. Perfect for a WWII display, a reenactor, or to pair with a period-correct 1911 pistol.
